How Ordering a Custom Body Pillow Works, Start to Finish

If you have never ordered a custom dakimakura before, the process can feel like a mystery. It really is not. Here is the whole flow, start to finish, so you know exactly what happens after you hit checkout.

Step 1: Upload your art

You bring the image. That is the part I cannot do for you, so make sure you have the rights to use whatever you upload. The art prep guide covers resolution, file formats, and seam-safe margins. A few things that help the print come out sharp:

  • Higher resolution is better. A big pillow needs a big image, so the larger the file, the cleaner the result.
  • Check the orientation. Most designs are vertical to match the pillow shape.
  • Two-sided is normal. Plenty of people put a different image on each side, so have both ready if that is your plan.

Step 2: Pick a size and fabric

Sizes run from 34x100 cm up to 60x180 cm. The larger sizes are the classic full-length feel, and the smaller ones are easier to travel with or tuck onto a chair. If you are torn, the dakimakura size guide breaks each size down. Then you choose the fabric:

  • Peachskin is soft, lightweight, and the budget-friendly option. Colors print well and it holds up to everyday use.
  • 2way is stretchier and smoother, with a bit more give and a richer feel. It costs more, and a lot of people think it is worth it.

Step 3: Check out

Once your art, size, and fabric are set, you review everything and pay. This is your last chance to double-check the image looks right, so take a second look before you confirm. Step 4: Printing, sewing, and shipping

Here is what happens on my end:

  • Your image is printed onto the fabric you chose.
  • The cover is cut and sewn, with a zipper added so you can wash and replace it.
  • It gets packed and shipped to you.

On timing, be honest with yourself: a custom item is made to order, so it is not an off-the-shelf next-day thing. Printing and sewing take time before it ever ships, and then transit time depends on where you are. You will get shipping details with your order rather than a guess from me here.
